Knitwear manufacturer

Imily Clothing is a women’s fashion clothing supplier based in Guangzhou, China. We work with importers, wholesalers and independent brands that need custom knitwear — sweaters, cardigans, pullovers, knit dresses and accessories — developed and delivered without opening a buying office in China.

Our team handles the parts that decide whether a knitwear order works: yarn selection, gauge and size grading, pattern making, sample development, trims, labels and packaging. The knitting runs with the mills we have worked with for years, and we stay on the order from the first tech pack to the final carton, so you get one contact who owns the whole process instead of a list of factories to manage yourself.

We have supplied knitwear to buyers in Australia and Europe since 2012, and we work across the full machine range, from chunky 3GG to fine 18GG, in cashmere, merino, lambswool and viscose or nylon blends.

100% Custom made from top to bottom

Nothing here is a stock item. Every order starts from your design — a sketch, a reference photo, a tech pack or a sample you already own — and the knitwear is built around it.

What you can change on a knitwear order:

  • Gauge and hand feel. 3GG and 5GG for chunky stitches, 7GG and 12GG for the classic sweater weight, 14GG and 18GG for fine, lightweight knitwear.
  • Yarn. Cashmere, merino, lambswool, mohair, or viscose, nylon and acrylic blends. If you are choosing between fibres, our guide to yarn types and classification explains how each one behaves, and this comparison of cashmere versus wool covers feel, price and how to look after each one.
  • Style. Pullover, cardigan, turtleneck, crew neck, hoodie, knit dress, skirt, scarf or beanie.
  • Everything that carries your brand. Size grading, colour, stitch and jacquard pattern, collar and placket, trims, care labels, and your own woven labels and hang tags.

Our minimum is 100 pieces per style, and you can split those across sizes and up to three colours. Sampling takes 7–10 days once the yarn is confirmed, and bulk production is 20–45 days after you approve the sample. You will have a price per piece and a lead time within 24 hours of sending us your design — with no obligation.

How Can We Ensure Quality?

Knitwear is unforgiving. One wrong gauge, one loose linking stitch or one shade difference between two yarn lots and the whole run is unsellable. We check the order at the points where those mistakes are still cheap to fix.

Hand stitch + 2 times checking

Every piece passes two full inspection rounds — once after linking and hand stitching, and again before packing — plus a light-box check on the fine, dark-coloured knits, where a small hole is invisible to the eye.

Yarn and gauge control before knitting

Yarn is weighed and checked on arrival — count, evenness and shrinkage — and a test swatch is knitted to confirm the gauge and the finished hand feel before any bulk panel is produced. We buy slightly more yarn than the order needs, because running short inside the same dye lot is the hardest problem to solve late in a run.

Factory review working process

We do not hand your design to a workshop and wait. Our own team runs the development — pattern, grading and sampling — and then follows the order through every stage at the knitting mill: confirming panels, tracking linking and washing, and signing off the final inspection against your approved sample. Every step is written out in our sweater manufacturing process guide if you want to see the whole sequence.

The benefits of working with us

Flexible delivery

Big order or small, we run to your delivery plan. A repeat order on a confirmed style can be delivered in as little as 10 days, which matters when a bestseller sells out mid-season.

No knit skills required

You do not need to know a yarn count or a gauge to work with us. Tell us what the garment has to do — the weight, the warmth, the price point — and we translate it into yarn and machine settings, so you keep your time for the market and the design.

One stop solution

Development, yarn and trim sourcing, pattern making, sampling, production, labels and shipping are all handled through one contact. You are not assembling a garment from five different suppliers — see our services for the full scope.

Professional guide

You deal with one person who has worked in knitwear for over ten years, in plain language, from the first question to the final shipment.

Where our knitwear comes from

We are based in Guangzhou, but the knitting runs in the clusters that have specialised in it for decades — Puyuan and Datang in Zhejiang, Hengshan in Jiangsu, Dalang in Guangdong. Working inside those clusters keeps yarn, machinery and skilled hands close together, and it is why a 100-piece run is realistic rather than an exception. Our guide to the knitwear clusters in China breaks them down town by town.

Questions buyers ask before they start

What is your minimum order?

100 pieces per style, split across sizes and up to three colours. We built our setup around small runs, so we can start there without asking you to commit to 300 or 500 pieces. See how the low MOQ structure works.

Can the knitwear carry our own label?

Yes. Woven labels, size and care labels, hang tags and printed packaging can all carry your brand, and nothing on the garment mentions us. Labels and swing tags are made from 1,000 pieces; the garment minimum stays at 100. More on private label knitwear.

How long does a knitwear order take?

Sampling is 7–10 days, bulk production is 20–45 days after sample approval, plus shipping. We can deliver door to door with DDP to the United States, all of Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, with the duties paid before the goods reach you.

How do we start?

Send your design, a reference photo or a tech pack to sales@imilyclothing.com, or use the contact form. You will have a price per piece and a lead time within 24 hours, with no obligation. Payment is by bank transfer — a 50% deposit to start production, with the balance settled against the shipping documents before dispatch.

Before you start, it is worth reading the questions buyers ask us most, and if this is your first collection, how we work with new brands. When you are ready, talk to us about your knitwear.
