Specialty Categories

Some buyers do not fit the standard categories. Imily Clothing is based in Guangzhou and develops specialist apparel for importers, wholesalers and independent brands — maternity, plus size, sustainable lines and niche or technical product — without opening a buying office in China. Our own team handles fabric sourcing, pattern making, size grading, sampling, trims and labels, and the sewing runs with the factories we have worked with for years.

We have supplied specialist ranges to buyers in Australia and Europe since 2012, in woven and knit constructions.

What counts as a specialty category

• Maternity. Dresses, tops and trousers built around a maternity panel and the right stretch, so the fit still works in the third trimester.
• Plus size and curve. Blocks developed for a curve-fit rise, thigh and waist ratio — not a straight-size pattern graded up.
• Activewear and uniforms. Gym and athleisure, workwear and uniform programmes; the fabric side is covered in our guide to custom yoga and activewear.
• Sustainable lines. Organic cotton, recycled fibres, deadstock and low-impact dyeing.
• Designer and small-run collections. Low minimums for pieces that are made to be noticed, including knitwear through our custom knitwear line.

Why specialty ranges need a real development partner

Maternity and plus size are not one size up from a standard block. A maternity dress needs the right panel and the right stretch so it still fits late in pregnancy; a curve-fit trouser needs a different rise, thigh and waist ratio from a straight-size pattern. If the block is wrong, no fabric is good enough to save the fit. Our own team builds those blocks and grades them, and we confirm the fit on a sample before anything is cut in bulk.

Eco and recycled lines

If you sell an eco line, we source organic and recycled fabrics to your requirement and keep the mill's certificates with the order, so the paperwork matches the product when it lands. Stretch and recovery are checked on the sample for activewear and maternity, where the garment has to move with the body and come back to shape.

Minimums, sampling and lead time

The minimum is 100 pieces per style, split across sizes and up to three colours. Sampling is 7–10 days once the fabric is confirmed, and bulk production is 20–45 days after you approve the sample; technical and functional fabrics can take a little longer to lock down. Quality control

• The fit block is confirmed on the sample before bulk — the point where a specialty style is won or lost.
• Fabric and stretch recovery checked on arrival, especially for maternity, plus size and activewear.
• Two inspection rounds — after sewing and finishing, and again before packing.
• Piece-by-piece measurement against your size chart.

Questions buyers ask

Do you develop a new block for plus size or maternity?

Yes. We build the block from your chart or from a garment you already sell, and confirm it on a fit sample before cutting bulk.

Can you source eco or recycled fabric to my standard?

Yes. Tell us the standard you need and we will source to it, keeping the mill's certificates with the order.

Do you take small first orders?

Yes — 100 pieces per style, which is why the business is built around our low MOQ structure. If this is your first collection, see how we work with new brands.
